Ele's Spiffy Hole in the Wall
This room is a natural little hole in the wall. Looking out towards the west there is a round, but very small and heavily shuttered window. It looks to have been a crude vent at one time from when the area was still an active volcano but a basic windowpane has since been added along with light purple curtains, giving the room a soft, cozy feeling.
A small bed has been tucked into the corner, covered by a think snowy white quilt. A clothespress stands at the open end of the bed and a few pillows are stacked at the end against the wall a small wooden nightstand set up beside them. A glowbasket sits on top of the stand, and there is a small drawer built in, and just above the nightstand there is also a glowbasket hanging from a hook in the wall. Against the opposite side of the wall there is a small desk with one chair pushed underneath. A matching chair stands off to the side, and a wooden shelf has been built into the wall above the desk with stacks of hides and small vials and jars stacked on top plus yet another glowbasket. A tall but narrow bookshelf stands just beside the door, stacked with still more hides plus some wineskins, bottles and other odds and ends. Between everything else there is a thick wool rug spread on the floor to protect uncovered toes from those cold 'Reaches winters.
It is a spring afternoon.
Elehu is here.

Jet black hair falls shiny and straight just to her chin, a fringe of shorter hair in front just brushing delicate brows. Her skin is creamy-pale, with just a faint blush on high cheekbones and full lips. Wide-set emerald eyes are tipped up slightly at the outside corners and framed with thick black lashes, giving her a vaguely feline appearance. Neither overly tall nor overly short, Reiko stands straight-shouldered with quiet confidence and moves with an easy, quiet grace.
Supple leather clings to Reiko's slim form, so dark it seems true black until just the right light hits it, when it gives off a rich, plum glow. The jacket is a bit roomy but still tailored, more casual than truly elegant, given the collar up-turned in back in a flirtatiously naive way. Smudge-dark bronze fastenings allow for quite a bit of modification in how it is worn, even allowing a bit of cleavage to show when the jacket is not tightly closed for flight. The lapels are dyed a pleasant, contrasting cream, the color echoing in trim along the cuff and edges, as well as along reinforced seams. Emphasizing her slim hips and thighs, the trousers have just enough give to be comfortable, are snug enough to attract admiration. The cut widens a bit further down, parting in a slit below the knee along the outside of the calf to accommodate softly-buffed black boots.
Two cords, royal blue and black, intertwine in a single loop on her shoulder. The small tail and two tassels tell any who look that Reiko is Wingleader for the Wildfire Wing at High Reaches Weyr... and the brilliant turquoise ribbon weaving around and about the cords proudly signifies her lifemate, blue Cerdith.
Reiko is 20 Turns, 11 months, and 23 days old.

Elehu has grown into womanhood with quite a bit of success. She has curves in most of the right places, though her body is still a bit on the thin side. Her slender five and a half foot build has a faint gleam of golden bronze, the visage or a traveler. Her rich brown, shoulder-length hair contains streaks of gold, bleached by the sun, that seem to make her hazel-brown eyes shine with an inner fire. Her hands are small, but her fingers are slender and nimble, well built for her walk of life.
Soft leather pants cover Elehu's legs from hips to heels, the materiel well tanned to a supple texture, taking on the light shade of milky klah. Black, carefully spaced stitching lines the hems, keeping the leather formfitting, and yet leaving them pleasantly loose. Peeking out at the cuffs is a hint of downy soft lining, meant for keeping her nice and warm. An almost flowing blouse of creamy lavender has been tucked into the trousers and opens about a quarter's length down, sleeves neatly buttoned at the wrists but easy enough to roll to the elbows when needed. Over that there is a sturdy black vest made of oiled leather that falls just above her waist, a dark brown belt matching her boots encircles her waist, and a slender sheathed dagger, about six inches in length, hangs at her right hip, with a small wherhide pouch at her left.
She is awake and looks alert.
Elehu is 21 Turns and 13 days old.

Elehu is standing in the middle of the room, a small box in her hands. It's the only box in the room, in fact, and it's quite empty. She's been staring out the window, so Reiko's entrance goes unnoticed at first. After a long moment however she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and begins to turn towards the desk where she sets down the box, spinning to blink at the weyrling. "Oh! Hello..." A slow smile spreads as she turns the rest of the way, hands fidgeting at her sides.

Reiko isn't really surprised it took a minute or two for her to be noticed, since she slipped in quietly without so much as a knock or even a hello. "Hey, there," she returns genially, giving the box a curiously offhanded glance before returning a more appreciative gaze to the Healer. "I didn't know if I'd find you here or not. How are things?" No mention or apology made regarding the previous night.. she'd only said maybe, after all. Closing the door behind her, she crosses the room in a few long strides, one hand lifting to caress Elehu's cheek in a gentle gesture of greeting.

Elehu leans up against the desk casually as Reiko walks over, the healer's head turning a fraction towards the rider's gentle caress with a quiet sigh. After a brief moment, her smile changes into a rather amused grin. "Pretty good, considering I should have had this little place of mine nicely packed by now." She gives a soft laugh before leaning in towards the weyrling a little spontaneously and places a brief peck on Reiko's cheek. "And how are you and your 'mate?"

Reiko arches a brow, her hand dropping to her side. "Moving?" She takes another look around the little room -- well, it's been Turns since she was last in here, so maybe her inattentiveness can be excused. Not that she's ever been particularly observant. A twisted little halfsmile curls the corners of her lips at the peck. "We're fine. Very well, in fact." The smile seems to soften a bit, actually.

With a quick bob of the head, Elehu returns the smile in kind and gestures around the room. "I at long last wheedled my way into a bigger room, nicer too, I suppose. But now when it comes right down to it..." Smile turns crooked as she shrugs her shoulders a tiny bit. "I kinda like this place. And that's good to hear about Cerdith. I hope you two weren't late the other morning." Eyes twinkle briefly as the healer's head tilts to the side a little.

Reiko smirks lightly. "Not significantly," she says mildly. So 'dropping off' had turned out to be a little more time consuming than she'd expected. Another quick glance around the room, and she smiles. "It's a nice room... comfortable. Where's the new one?"

Elehu suddenly laughs while a decidedly silly grin curves her lips for a moment. "Just around the corner a bit. So basically the same place. One of the retired healers had been living there, but he finally moved down to Southern Boll. I don't know if I want to give this little place up though. It's home." She pauses for a moment, arms crossing slowly as she leans back against the desk once more. "So what brings you here today?" she asks lightly.

Reiko shrugs lightly, fixing a twisted smirk and glittering eyes on the Healer. "I said I'd stop by," she reminds her mildly, sitting down on the bed without waiting for further invitation. "I suppose I could help you pack... if you haven't already changed your mind about moving." She leans back on her hands -- not exactly a posture conducive to packing, but perhaps that's intentional.

"No, forget about it. I think maybe I'll wait a few days," Elehu replies quietly as she gives the old place a fond smile. "It's not like I've been here terribly long. But long enough to matter. I have a few memories of this silly room that I like to reflect on, you see, and it really is just about the right size for little ol' me." She stops rambling for a moment as she gives a quiet, short laugh. "And if it isn't broke..." Gaze rests on Reiko for a long moment then as Ele smiles softly, slim shoulders giving a tiny roll of a shrug. "But thank you for stopping by, Reiko. It's good to see you again."

Reiko tilts her head, regarding Elehu curiously at what sounds very much like an invitation to leave. "Shall I leave you to your reflections?" she asks quietly, drawing her feet back under herself as if to stand.

Elehu blinks at Reiko a couple times, then frowns. "No... no, I didn't mean..." She shakes her head to the side a little, a small smile quickly put back in place. "Unless you need to of course," she adds quietly, straightening from the desk once more. "I just meant I like seeing you. That's all."

Reiko smiles and shakes her head. "No. I like seeing you, too." She shifts a little, looking around again. "It's been a really long time," she observes at last, maybe thinking of a memory or two of her own. Now that she's allowing herself to think about the Healer again.

"Yes it has," Elehu quietly replies as she gives the weyrling a fond smile. She pulls the chair out from under her desk, and turning it takes a seat slowly. "And a lot has happened in that time," she adds thoughtfully as she studies Reiko for a moment, her face suddenly taking on an almost guarded look.

Reiko arches a brow, emerald gaze fixed intently on Elehu's face. "That's true," she agrees, her tone quiet. She doesn't offer any opinions on the matter, instead waiting to see where this is going. One hand lifts to push a chunk of hair behind her ear.

Elehu folds her hands in her lap and just studies them for a moment, though aside from the usual red tint so common on Healers, there isn't much out of the ordinary. "Well, time changes things sometimes. It's not always obvious, but it's there. Waiting in the background." Voice quiet, slow and contemplative, Ele seems to just be thinking as she goes, finally looking up at Reiko once more. "And I don't know what all that is, but it doesn't really matter. You seem to have grown a lot, Reiko. Not physically, just... I don't know. It's like it's still you, but you're beyond me."

Reiko blinks once, slowly processing this information. "Beyond..?" She repeats the word, as if unsure of its meaning, and then her jaw sets. "Nothing stays the same," she says quietly, her tone neutral now as she gets to her feet, unblinking gaze leveled on Elehu's face. Expressionless. Waiting.

Elehu bites her bottom lip for a moment as her gaze follows Reiko, eyes welling up for a brief second before she can blink it away. "Perhaps not... I don't know what I'm talking about," she mumbles, voice tight as she clasps her hands together to still them for a moment. "I hope things haven't changed too much... shells, what I wouldn't give to try..." But she finishes with a shake of her head, getting to her feet a bit less fluidly than usual. "Please, Reiko, if you don't want anything to do with me, just tell me. If it ever comes to that. But I can't go on wondering." And at last she seems to find her feet again, the stubborn resolve at the heart of her taking hold while she just stands, waiting.

Reiko straightens her shoulders, perhaps to hide her own relief that she isn't actually being driven away. "I wouldn't be here if I didn't want anything to do with you," she says quietly, only the slightest quaver around the edges of her voice giving away any emotion at all. She takes a step or two closer, offering her hand. So it's not exactly a promise. Reiko's terms have always been her own.

Elehu opens her mouth to speak, but ends up taking a long, calming breath, eyes closing. But when she look at Reiko once more the relief is plain in her eyes as she takes the hand the other woman offers, holding it with both of her own as a wavering little smile finally appears. "Thank you, Reiko," is quietly replied, fingers tightening for a second as she suddenly laughs, eyes glimmering. "My, I do cause worry for myself, don't I?" she admits, not quite teasingly but making at effort at a lighter tone. "You've just come to mean a lot to me over the Turns. I would hate to lose you." She never was good at building walls.

Reiko draws Elehu into her arms then, holding her close. "I'm here," she says simply, as if that should be enough. Maybe it will be.
